Join the celebration for this year’s 27th Annual Mexican Independence Day Celebration on the Llano Estacado. The purpose of Fiestas Patrias Lubbock is to celebrate Mexican Independence Day by embracing our Hispanic heritage in art, dance, music and the wonderful flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine. The event schedule includes a scholarship pageant with a wonderful show featuring insightful Hispanic music and dance, a lively and colorful parade down historic Broadway, and two wonderful days of outdoor concerts. A children’s art area is always part of the fun. The food is legendary and the entertainment is memorable. September 12….The Greatest Country Groups of All Time - The Cactus Theater invites you to hear mega hits made famous by bands that have, indeed, made their mark in country music history. Join West Texas' finest singers with the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine as they pay tribute to Country bands such as Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Dixie Chicks, The Eagles, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lady Antebellun, Rascal Flatts and more. September 12….Movie Night at Maxey Park -
Grab a blanket, pack up the kids and watch a movie out under the stars! For the third year, Maxey Community Center is hosting their Movie Nights at Maxey Park, and this is the last Movie Night for this year! This month, “A Bug’s Life” will begin at dusk or approximately 8:15 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or low-backed lawn chairs to enhance their viewing experience. Time for the Farmers Market! Through the end of season in October, the market will be open every Saturday. September 13….Texas Tech Red Raider Football - The hometown Red Raiders line up against their old Southwest Conference foe - the always dangerous Arkansas Razorbacks - at Jones AT&T Stadium. The stadium is located at Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue; 2:30 p.m.

September 13….Atl’ Do Farms Corn Maize Preview -. Come be the first to try this year’s maze before our opening day. Ticket booths open at 6 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets because at 8 p.m. we will be showing Field of Dreams on the big screen! This is the 25th Anniversary for this amazing movie and we want to showcase it under the stars! Admission is $10 for both the Maze & the Movie. No other attractions will be open this evening. Concessions, Roasted Corn and The Hungry Crow Grill will all be open to serve you! Atl’ Do Farms, 6323 Farm to Market Road 1294; 6 p.m.

September 13….Heroes For Horses – This second annual fundraising event will help us keep caring for needy horses and providing recreational/ educational activities for youth. Chuck wagon dinner provided by Grubelnik's Catering. Music by Susan Gibson, singer and songwriter of the song "Wide Open Spaces" made famous by the Dixie Chicks. $30 per person. Tickets purchased after Sept. 5th will be held at the door. Please join us for this exciting event. You can attend the Tech game and then come on out and get dinner at 6:30 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m. We will have great silent auction items, super entertainment, a raffle drawing and door prizes. Tierra del Corazon, one of the most beautiful venues in Lubbock. Just a short 15 minute drive from town, 4501 E FM 1729, east of New Deal; 6:30 p.m.

September 13….The Official Post-Game Patio Party - The perfect after-game victory party! Come listen to our fabulous band backing the best singers in West Texas, all outside under the Cactus marquee! Complimentary peanuts and popcorn...and don't forget to try our famous pomegranate margarita! This all takes place immediately following the game. Tickets are $5.00. September 13….Night Hike at Lubbock Lake Landmark -
Join guides at dusk to explore the Landmark after dark! Gather at the Robert A. Nash Interpretive Center at 7:45 p.m., to begin the adventure. Honor Flight Golf Tournament


The Texas South Plains Honor Flight needs Volunteers to help sell t-shirts and raffle tickets at the Honor Flight booth!

What: Texas South Plains Honor Flight Golf Tournament
Date: Monday, September 15, 2014
Time: 1:30 p.m. tee time (Volunteer Shifts are: 1 p.m .- 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
Where: Texas Tech Rawls Course

Prizes for the winners of the tournament to include: $10,000, a Weekend getaway to Dallas for a round of golf for four, and four tickets to a Texas Rangers Game.
