July 10….Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase: Jenni Dale Lord (Americana) - The Buddy Holly Center is offering another summer of music and fun with the annual Summer Showcase Concert Series running now through August 28th. Showcase is free to the public. There is a cash bar and beverages available for purchase. No outside beverages are allowed. Performances are every Thursday from 5:30 pm – 7:30 p.m. in the Meadows Courtyard. Buddy Holly Center, 19th & Crickets Ave).

July 10...."When I Grow Up" - Hub Performing Arts School's Advanced Camp presents this amazing show about what it's like growing up told through the kids' own words and scenes and songs from some of your favorite Broadway shows: Wicked, 13, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Mary Poppins, Newsies, Aladdin and more. July 11….Back to the ‘80s - Attention all you Eighties ladies and gents! This is YOUR decade! Come re-live your favorite memories from this music decade that was like no other! July 11….Movie Night at Maxey Park - Grab a blanket, pack up the kids and watch a movie out under the stars! Maxey Community Center is hosting their Movie Nights at Maxey Park, and each month a different, classic Disney movie will be featured from June through September! This month the film that will be shown is “Finding Nemo.” Families are encouraged to bring blankets or low-backed lawn chairs to enhance their viewing experience. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their principles in tatters. *Recommended for mature audiences due to language. July 12….2014 Fit 4 Fun Kid's TriathlonThis event begins with a swim at the Texas Tech Leisure Pool, then transitions to a bike ride and ends with a run around the Student Recreation Center. Age groups 7 -10 and 11- 14 will have different distance to compete in. Cost is $20 for the first child in a family and $15 for each additional child in that family. $5 late fee after Monday, July 7 and you won’t be seeded in the swim. You can register in the Fit/Well at the TTU Rec Center or print a registration form and return to Rec Sports or mail it in. Online registration coming soon. There will also be a Triathlon Workshop July 7 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. and is free admission. Get a feel for the real thing! Bring your bike, helmet and running shoes to learn how to transition from one race segment to the other. Call 742-3828 to register. July 12….South Plains Kidney Foundation Walk 'n' Roll -
The SPKF's kidney walks are designed to help people understand the need for early detection of kidney disease. In addition to raising funds for research and help for patients and their families. July 13 ….Sunday Concert in the Park - Come and enjoy an old-fashioned concert in the park, performed by the Westwinds Brass Band. Traditional brass band music, marches, overtures, outstanding soloists, and our traditional favorite...the kid's march. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an hour of fun music-- maybe even a picnic supper! Concerts are sponsored by the Tech Terrace Neighborhood Association. Admission is FREE and everyone welcome. Note: This is the LAST performance of this season. Wagner Park, 26th St. and Flint Avenue; 8 p.m. - 9 p.m.
