October 31….Science Spectrum Spooky Science Carnival - One of
Lubbock’s largest annual Halloween events, the Spooky Science Carnival at the Science Spectrum, is back again for another exciting year of “spooky, not scary”, safe family fun! The Science Spectrum has long built a tradition of providing great family oriented informal science education and looks forward each year to the fun that Halloween can bring in continuing to explore science with the public. Locally, there is also a great need for safe alternatives to traditional trick-or-treating and “scarier” haunted houses geared for older ages. The Spooky Science Carnival has become the perfect fit for both needs! This event is great for families and kids up to age 14 looking for a safe Halloween alternative and a fun, educational party all rolled into one. This year’s Spooky Science Carnival will include;

· Free trick-or-treating in the Lobby
· Carnival Style Games with guaranteed prizes
· Inflatable Bounce House, Obstacle Course, and a Giant Slide
· Spooky Snakes & Magic Show with master snake handler Daryl Sprout of Snake Encounters from Dallas.
· Spooky Scientist Show
· Family and Kids Costume Contests
· Hands-on Spooky Science Lab Experiments
· “Spooky not Scary” Haunted House! (geared for ages 12 and under)
· Spooky Science Crafts
· Visitors can tour the entire Science Spectrum Museum.

Schedule for Spooky Science Carnival:
5 p.m. - Carnival, Games and Museum open to the public.
5:30 p.m. – Spooky Scientist Show
6 p.m. – Spooky Snakes & Magic Show

6:30 p.m. – Spooky Scientist Show (repeat)
7 p.m. – Family & Kids Costume Contests
7:30 p.m. – Spooky Scientist Show (repeat)
8 p.m. – Spooky Snakes & Magic Show (repeat)
8:30 p.m. – Spooky Scientist Show (repeat)
9 p.m. – Carnival ends

Once again this year, families that bring two cans of food per person to benefit the South Plains Food Bank will receive $1.00 off their carnival admission. Admission to the Spooky Science Carnival is included with a regular museum ticket of $8.00 for adults and $6.50 for kids (ages 3 to 12) and seniors (ages 60+). No scary costumes please! October 31….Trunk-or-Treat
– Come and enjoy free hot dogs, candy and lots of fun. Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 10306 Indiana Ave; 6-8 p.m.

October 31….Trunk or Treat -
The Historic Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Heart of Lubbock Neighborhood will host a Trunk or Treat event open to the public. The event provides a safe alternative for children so they can collect candy without going door-to-door. Volunteers from the church will decorate their vehicles and pass out candy. October 31 - Bodyworks' Annual Halloween Safe Zones - Safe Zone admission is FREE, and open to the public! Both Bodyworks’ Halloween Safe Zones will feature games, food, prizes and tons of safe candy for the kids. Children are encouraged to wear costumes and participate in the costume contest at 8:30 p.m. Bodyworks’ Halloween Safe Zones, games and activities will be going on everywhere. There will be tons of free candy, spider climbers, rock walls, inflatable bouncers, carnival games with candy prizes: ring toss, toilet toss, pumpkin walk, ping pong pumpkin toss, bowling, fishing game, fling shots - and other games, free photo booth, face painting, haunted houses at both locations and Dr, Trill mad scientist with spooky things to taste and feel. The 82nd Street location will have a haunted house for younger kids in the groove zone and the 4th Street location will have a haunted house for older kids in the two-story laser tag arena. October 31 – November 3….Texas Tech Theatre: "The Prophet Darla" - Darla is just an ordinary young woman trying to make ends meet when a heavenly visit from one of history’s greatest forerunners starts her on a path towards miraculous powers long thought extinct. Those closest to her immediately move to take an advantage of her newfound gifts, propelling this dark comedy about faith, desire, and the nature of goodness to a dramatic conclusion. Written by Jared Strange and directed by Chelsea Prettyman. Tickets are $10 for individuals, $5 for students with a valid ID. For more information call 806.742.3603. November 1…. Lubbock Women's Club Christmas Coffee and Bazaar - This event is open to the public, and the $12.00 entrance fee includes a delicious brunch and shopping with over 30 vendors. November 1….First Friday Art Trail - See the regular art venues...plus the exciting monthly additions showcasing art and artists downtown and throughout Lubbock. Catch a trolley or bus at many of the locations or pick up a FFAT map at any of the venues to see the art that can be found throughout the community each month during the event. First Friday Art Trail trolleys run continuously in downtown Lubbock during FFAT hours. Trolleys are free and you will find a "trolleyteer" on each trolley who is a treasure trove of info about FFAT and the arts in Lubbock and will help you navigate with ease. November 1….Cactus Theater: The Blues Brothers' Experience - West Texas soul men, Dustin Garrett and Jason Fellers, along with the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine and a rockin' horn section, will have you clapping your hands and stompin' your feet as they bring Jake and Elwood to life on the Cactus stage. Hear the actual arrangements and witness the hilarious antics of the Blues Brothers, just the way we all remember! The spectacular Cactus Theater sound and lighting and this fun filled evening of music equal total entertainment! Admission is $20.00. November 1…."Is There Life After Lubbock?” - Join host Jaston Williams of "Greater Tuna" fame and legendary Texas musician Joe Ely for an evening of music, storytelling, poetry and lots of laughter inspired by their memories of growing up in and around Lubbock, Texas. Hear about everything from the cocktail mixing airplane pilot to the ocelot in the bedroom. Wear your house-shoes, sip on longnecks and try to help answer the question, "Why Lubbock?" There will be a quilt raffle, bake sale, jams jellies and environmentally-friendly items for sale. Credit cards accepted. Proceeds go to Lubbock Meals on Wheels and The Bridge of Lubbock. November 2….Dia de los Muertos - Come celebrate Dia de los Muertos! Decorate sugar skulls, make skeleton pets and create skeletons at our fun activity stations! November 2….Texas Tech Red Raider Football - The 15th-ranked, hometown Texas Tech Red Raiders tackle the #19 Oklahoma State Cowboys in a clash at Jones AT&T Stadium. The stadium is located at Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue; 6 p.m.

November 2 (Repeats Nov. 9)…."Hors d'oeuvres, Theater & Dessert" - A new concept is coming to the Cactus Theater!!! As always we pride ourselves on offering the highest quality entertainment and now we are literally putting a cherry on top!!! When you walk into the Cactus, you will be served hors d'oeuvres and wine to the music of virtuoso pianist, Marilyn Arland, as you await our play. At intermission, you will be served dessert! So come let us feed you and your soul with a wonderful night out at the Cactus Theater. All food will be catered by Lubbock's premier chef, Tyrone Willis. To kick this series off, we are featuring our beloved, Jane Prince Jones, in "Tea at Five". This play, by Matthew Lombardo, is a one woman show based on the life of famed actress Katharine Hepburn. Based on Hepburn's own words from her book. "Me: Stories of My Life". The two-act play begins in 1938, spanning several decades to 1983. This wonderful play gives insight to the secret emotions and drive behind the legendary artist. You will be amazed at how Jane captures the essence of the one and only Katherine Hepburn. November 3….I Enjoy Being a Girl Tea Party - Hub Performing Arts School's Advanced Performance Team invites you to join them along with Texas Tech Fashion Board and Texas Tech female athletes in celebrating being girls!
