July 11….Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase ConcertThe Center is an exciting and beautiful facility located in the heart of Lubbock’s historic Depot District. Home to the most extensive permanent exhibition on the life and music of Buddy Holly, the Center also features a contemporary Fine Arts Gallery, the Texas Musicians Hall of Fame Gallery and the outdoor Buddy & Maria Elena Holly Plaza. At 5:30 p.m. the Summer Showcase Concert Series will 07/11 Hannah Jackson (Indie, Pop, Folk). Buddy Holly Center, 1801 Crickets Avenue; 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.

July 11….Lubbock Fun Club Singles "SOS" Monthly Dinner - Happy 4th of July! We have moved our monthly dinner to …Thursday, JULY 11 at the new Mamaritas. July 11….Texas Tech University School of Music Band & Orchestra Camps presents: An Evening of Chamber Music -
Join us in the Kent R. Hance Chapel to hear chamber works performed by a group of elite Texas high school music students. These students have been personally invited from all the string players in the state to participate in this special program. Featuring: The TTUBOC Honors String Quartets & Chamber Ensembles. Admission is free. Kent R. Hance Memorial Chapel, 17th Street and University Avenue; 7 p.m.

July 11-14…. South Plains College Summer MusicalSPC College Theatre presents “Oklahoma” - Music by Richard Rodgers and Book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Based on the play “Green Grow the Lilacs” by Lynn Riggs. Original dances by Agnes de Mille. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students. (Repeats July 19–20)….Lubbock Moonlight Musicals Presents “Annie Get Your Gun” – This musical hits the entertainment bulls-eye!" It's a western, a love story, a musical, and a story of the American Dream all rolled into one brilliant show. Bring your family and come along for the ride of your life! After all, "There's No Business Like Show Business." Come enjoy the story of Annie Oakley, a poor, but spirited, country girl and the love of her life, expert rifleman Frank Butler. "Annie Get Your Gun" is truly American. Any show that blends bullets, ballads, show business and music by Irving Berlin is sure to be extraordinary, and "Annie Get Your Gun" is all that! All summer performances will be outdoors in the Wells Fargo Amphitheater in beautiful Mackenzie Park. The audience is encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and personal lawn chairs or blankets. Seating is on grassy terraces. Tickets are for preferred seating (in the center) and for general admission seating on the sides. July 13….2013 Fit 4 Fun Kid's Triathlon - This event begins with a swim at the Texas Tech Leisure Pool, then transitions to a bike ride and ends with a run around the Student Recreation Center. Age groups will have different distance to compete in: (7 -10 yr olds)..Swim: 100 yds, Bike: 2.4 miles, Run: 1 mile and (11 -14 yr olds)….Swim: 200 yds, Bike 3.2 miles, Run: 1.5 miles. Cost is $20 for the first child in a family and $15 for each additional child in that family, $5 late fee after Monday, July 8 and you won’t be seeded in the swim. You can register in the Fit/Well at the TTU Rec Center or online at Active.com. Texas Tech Student Recreation and Leisure Pool which is located on Main Street just east of Indiana Avenue. Starts at 7:30 am.

July 13….Lubbock Lake Landmark Activities -
Archaeology in Action: Here's your chance to see "archaeology in action" as you interact with the excavators and the lab crew. Visit all of the places not usually open to the public during this special event! Join us from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for activities including: simulated archaeology excavations, pottery puzzles, animal track art, spear throwing and mammoth walk. Tours to this year's excavation and to the lab begin in the Interpretive Center at: 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. For more information call (806) 742-1116. Night Hike: Join guides to explore the Landmark after dark! Gather at the Robert A. Nash Interpretive Center at 8:30 p.m., to begin your adventure. Be sure to wear comfortable, sturdy, closed-toed shoes (no sandals, no flip-flops) and bring a bottle of water. Lubbock Lake Landmark, 2401 Landmark Drive.

July 13….Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market
– Time for the Farmers Market! Through the end of season in October, the market will be open twice every month on the second and fourth Saturdays. That's twice the chances to come see and purchase the finest in local art and the freshest in locally produced foods and produce. There will be lots of vendors including Sunburst Farms, Crazy Hoe Farms, Harden Farms, Apple Country and Crusty's Wood Fired Pizza...folks this one will be big. July 13….Looking through the Lens at Buddy Holly Center - Using a photographic perspective draws the viewer’s eye into a photo and often accentuates patterns present in the scene. Learn about new ways to look through your camera’s lens and see the world in new ways. Pre-registration is required by Friday, July 5th at 5:00 p.m. A digital camera is required for the class. Ages 13 and up. Cost is $7.00. Buddy Holly Center, 1801 Crickets Ave; 10:30 a.m.—12 p.m.

July 13…. 5th Annual Jesse Fest - This annual festival honoring the late Jesse 'Guitar' Taylor will be held on the outdoor stage north of the Tornado Gallery. Performers include Texas Belairs with Ponty Bone, R.C. Banks, The Wade Parks Band and Brandon Adams and The Sad Bastards. Tickets are $15 For more information call 687-1644 or 441-8564. July 14
…Westwinds Brass Band Concert in the Park Come and enjoy an old fashioned Concert In the Park, performed by the Westwinds Brass Band. Traditional brass band music, marches, overtures, outstanding soloists, and our traditional favorite...the kid's march. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an hour of fun music-- maybe even a picnic supper! Concerts are sponsored by the Tech Terrace Neighborhood Association. Admission is FREE and everyone welcome. Wagner Park, 26th St. and Flint Avenue; 8 p.m. - 9 p.m.
