April 6….First Friday Art Trail -
See the regular art venues...plus the exciting monthly additions showcasing art and artists downtown and throughout Lubbock. Catch a trolley or bus at many of the locations or pick up a FFAT map at any of the venues to see the art that can be found throughout the community each month during the event. First Friday Art Trail trolleys run continuously in downtown Lubbock during FFAT hours. Trolleys are free and you will find a "trolleyteer" on each trolley who is a treasure trove of info about FFAT and the arts in Lubbock and will help you navigate with ease. April 6….Cactus Theater: Del Castillo in Concert -
Come hear Lubbock's best rock band Static Union as the opening act and then rock out to Austin's premier Latin rockers, Del Castillo. Their new Album "Infinitas Rapsodias" is just released and it features new songs, classic DC songs re-done with guest players and a DVD with six high definition videos! You're sure to hear several of the new tracks in what promises to be another outstanding show. Tickets are $20.00 and can be reserved by calling (806) 762-3233. ….Lubbock Community Theatre presents: “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown” - When "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" (revised) opened on Broadway in 1999, it was a fresh approach to the all-time 1967 classic. Sally Brown joins Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and Snoopy in this version. Two new songs, "Beethoven Day" and "My New Philosophy", have been added to the twelve wonderful numbers from the original version, such as "My Blanket and Me", "The Kite", "The Baseball Game", "Little Known Facts", "Suppertime" and "Happiness". Based on the comic strip "Peanuts" by Charles M. Schulz, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner and directed by Joshua Aguirre. Rated: G. April 7….Annual Apple Blossom Celebration - Apple Country invites the public to experience the aromatic splendor and blooming spectacle of 6000 apple trees in their pink and white finery. Come take a hayride in the orchard and enjoy the famous apple pancakes and sausage to be served all day. This celebration will again benefit Meals on Wheels. Apple Country Bakery and gift store will be open all day long. Memorial pavers may be purchased for the Commemorative Waterfall and Fountain patio area. Donations for meal of $4 and $1 for the hayride will be graciously accepted. Apple Country at Hi Plains Orchards, 4 miles East of Idalou on Hwy 62, 12206 E. Hwy 62; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

April 7….3rd Annual Community Easter Eggstravaganza - Mark your calendar for a community-wide Easter festival! April 7….TTU Trombone Studio Recital - The Texas Tech University School of Music and The College of Visual & Performing Arts invites everyone to enjoy this production of solo trombone with piano accompaniment and small trombone ensembles as they play the music of Galliard, Sachse, McCarty and Bach, among others. Admission is free. Texas Tech University Music Building M01 Choir Room, 18th and Akron; 2 p.m.

April 7….Buffalo Springs Lake Easter Egg Scramble - All are invited to join the Easter egg scramble that starts at 2 p.m. in the grassy area across from the amphitheater. There is an admission for the adults to get in at the entrance while kids 11 and under are free till 2 pm. Age groups are 1-4 yrs, 5-8 yrs and 9-11 yrs. April 7….Plein Air Landscape Painting - You are welcome to paint along with Hilton, in his indoor/outdoor plein air studio in Ransom Canyon from 2- 7 p.m. Oil paints are recommended. A canvas, easel and supplies can be provided for an additional $25, just be sure to contact Hilton ahead of time. There is a complete kitchen, so bring your favorite adult beverage or any drink with food and snacks. Just a Few Vendor Spaces Remain for Summer Fun Planning April 21st

We're just a little over two weeks away from our annual event! We're excited and in the final stages of planning for Kids' Fun Fair 2012…and this year, there's more fun for everyone! Our annual gathering will take place on Saturday, April 21st, in a new venue: Main Event...so there'll be fantastic fun around every corner and at every booth represented! Expect to spend a fun-filled day learning about the best that summer has to offer...and enjoy the arcade, bowling, laser tag and mini golf while you're there, too!

Kids' Fun Fair 2012 allows business owners, parents and their kids the opportunity to learn about each other...and the diverse products and services available in our community in a lively, energetic environment. Vendors who have participated in the past include: pre-schools, summer camps, private schools, churches, children’s party entertainment services, community health professionals and a wide variety of family-friendly businesses. The fair will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on April 21st with some new surprises for those who've attended our annual event in the past. Make plans now to attend or exhibit.
