What's Hot. What's Not. For Fall 2006.

Welcome ladies to the launche of “Lubbock Looks” .
I am thrilled to work with Sandy Parker and her staff as we put forth fashion information for you twice a month.
Kicking off the fashion section of the Fun Club website opens with “What is Hot for Fall 2006”.

Seeing RED is the hot hue for the season. Anything red; red shoes, red handbags, red dresses, red jackets, you name it, red is the color. Second in line of the newest of new is menswear fabrics. Herringbone fabrics for pants, blazers and even on shoes.

In accessories - the new is to layer on plenty of gold. Gold necklaces in multistrands, gold cuff bracelets and gold hoop earrings are the season’s must haves. For “shapes” look for jumpers (not for everyone), short boxy jackets (really NOT for everyone) and the return of the vest. This time the vest is fitted, very fitted.
Do what works for you and let us hear from you.

To come – the the do’s and don’ts of the tights trend and leggings.
Are they for you???????

People caught in the act of good taste and style!

Textures are in! Blending textures such as flocking and lace (seen above) are good ways to reinvent your wardrobe. If you want to keep your sparkle subtle try a decked out pocket. Plunging neck lines are big this Fall. Remember to layer a LOT of beads with a low neckline so that attention will remain on your face.

Beaded bra straps
are a great alternative for convertible bras and a must if you wear spaghetti straps this season.
Gold is the color for accessories. This jacket is a great example, but if a gold jacket is a bit to bold for you, try a pair of gold Chandelier earrings instead. Hodge-podge jewelry is a fun way to liven up any outfit. Funky beads in all shapes, sizes, and colors strung together in random patterns add a touch of youthful flair to Fall

Back to School Cool

Fashion forward Lubbockites don’t necessarily follow the pattern of the nation’s trend setters. We have our own culture and character which heavily influence the clothes we wear and the ways we live.

Although skinny jeans and canvas belts are in retail stores, the more practical Lubbock shopper will stick to a classy contemporary look that will incorporate some well selected timeless style pieces (that they probably already own) and add one or two new pieces to update their style for Fall.

Remember these important tips when it comes to being trendy this Fall.
1. Stick to clothes that fit your body shape (Not everyone can wear those skinny jeans.)

2. Buy something that you love and will wear (I probably won’t wear a canvas belt regardless of trends or how good someone else says I look in it)

3. Buy something that you have a good feeling will stay in style for a while (I am reminded of a tacky green and orange striped, bell sleeved sweater that a friend bought; it was fun for about five minutes) or something you like enough to wear in a creative manner even if it might go out of style before you’re ready to give it up.

My Fashion forecast for Lubbock this Fall includes blazers, vintage style vests, and skirts which incorporate a lot of texture (such as, lace, ruffles, patchwork etc). All of these pieces can be worn with each other in several combinations and they also dress up a pair of blue jeans (If you don’t want to wear a skirt over your blue jeans you could wear it over a longer skirt or by itself for a plethora of looks).

Remember it’s important to feel comfortable and confidant in whatever you wear.
